A few updates that were sent to me recently.
I’m sure that everyone is aware of
Mathematica (if you are not there is a review here) however they have now brought out Mathematica Home Edition, at just under $300 this gives the opportunity for anyone to get access to this application for home use. Note this is not licensed for business or institution use, students should get the education version.

CLCbio have just announced a major upgrade to the
CLC Main workbench, CLC Main Workbench creates a software environment enabling users to make a large number of advanced DNA, RNA, and protein sequence analyses, combined with gene expression analysis, smooth data management, and excellent graphical viewing and output options.
