The continued rise of iOS

I was looking at the latest market share report from Net Applications and whilst it is pretty much as expected (Mac OS X around 5%) I thought I’d look at iOS now that Net Applications have combined (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch). What is clear is that throughout 2009 and the early part of 2010 there was a gradual increase in iOS use, however with the release of the iPad in April followed by the iPhone 4 there has been a significant increased rate in adoption. With iOS now at 1.36% this exceeds JavaME (0.89%), Adroid (0.31%), Symbian (0.26%) and Blackberry (0.11%).
With a good Christmas season we could see iOS exceed 1.5% in January.
