Macs in Chemistry

Insanely Great Science

Grants.gov

Those who do research in the US are probably aware of the grants submission system that was Windows only, and those with upcoming NIH SBIR, STTR, or R01 proposal submissions will be required to use the Grants.gov electronic submission system. Luckily IBM has managed to release a beta version of the PureEdge Viewer software that, up until recently, was a Windows-only product. However, despite months of effort the software has some pretty severe limitations. It is not compatible Intel-based Macs to name a big one.
However MacResearch have come to the rescue, they have modified the installer for the MacViewer application (Pure Edge application for Macs from IBM) to enable it to install on Intel based Macs. The installed application will run via translation through Rosetta. No modifications have been made to the actual application. Therefore this installer CAN also be used on PowerPC Macs.
